Darn it, Liam! I liked you! Anyway! 4 solid stars.
This was a wonderful short story. A great prequel. Fun enough on its own, but it leaves the reader with so many questions about what happens next, and about the world that’s presented to. You’ll just have to read the rest of the books!
Which, I guess, is the whole point of a prequel. 😀 It certainly got my attention!
“The Gate Guardian’s Daughter” introduces the readers to Elisabeth, a sheltered ten-year-old girl, who is a lot more special than she realizes. It’s a very good story, well written and creative.
(And it has nothing to do with the story, but that cover is absolutely gorgeous!)
It’s a very fast read, which I love in a prequel. 😀 it’s like an appetizer. 😀 gets you hungry for more. And it’s got a wonderful line at the end, which I loved. Such a pretty quote!
“She cannot change what she is, only who she is. My only hope is that she will make the right decision.” If that won’t get you to read the rest of the series, I don’t know what will. 😀
Recommended for fans of fantasy and science fiction. 😀
P.S. I did notice that at one point, Elisabeth’s father called her Elsa instead of Elisabeth in my copy. It was the only typo I noticed. and it didn’t take anything away from the story itself (God knows my own books are full if them.) but it seemed important to note! It’s the M.C.’s name after all! 😀
Happy Reading! 😀
