Fight for the Blue Planet Review

hey! I finished reading a new novel today! the author is in one of my Facebook reading/writing groups. he suggested it to me. so I bought myself a pretty little paperback from Amazon and gave it a try. I love the cover. I needed it on my shelf. here’s the cover:

pretty, yes? 😀

And the blurb:

Three children go on a quest to save the world from invasion by the Targ, a warlike people from another galaxy, intent on plundering the Earth for its resources. With help from a friendly alien called Shack-Shack they set off on an adventure that will take them across the far reaches of the galaxy on a mission to save their planet from destruction.

what’s my rating? sadly, I’m giving it two stars. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. 😦 here’s my review of it.

2 star read

I don’t think this book was for me. :/ maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for it? I think kids might really like it. I just wasn’t a huge fan though. I spent most the book wondering things like:

why are these kids so okay with fighting against aliens? Why are they just assuming that Shack-shack and Sim-Sim are telling the truth? And why can the little girl transport whatever she’s touching, but the boy couldn’t turn the explosive device invisible? his clothes could turn invisible. :/ I think that might have been overlooked.

I also just found the characters lacking in any sort of personality or development.

Points for creativeness. I do think that kids would enjoy this. (And I bet this would make a fun animated kids’ movie.) particularly fans of alien and science fiction stories. I just wasn’t a big fan.

😦

but!

just because I wasn’t a huge fan, doesn’t mean other people won’t enjoy it! It has about 20 0r s0 g00d reviews, so it must be a good pick for other readers! 😀 The Winter holidays are right around the corner. 😀 this might be a good gift idea if you know any young science fiction fans.

thanks for reading! I’ll be back again soon with another new review. Happy Reading! Love, Lennie! ❤
