Hello, my few little blog followers! I hope everyone is staying nice and safe among all the craziness! I’m hard at work on lots of stories, and I’ve been getting lots of reading done. (Thank you audiobooks!)
But I have some sad news. Covid-19 has effected every aspect of our lives, and I’m pretty sure, it’s effecting Kindle Publishing too. 😦 I wanted to have a new holiday themed horror story out now to celebrate Mother’s Day. I even had cover images picked out, and a cool title of “The Mad Mother”
but sadly, it’s not going to happen.
I know, I know. It sucks. But this time, it’s not because I’m bad at schedules. though I totally am. I meant to have this announcement blog post up this weekend, and that didn’t happen.
KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) is experiencing delays in their publishing. Something that I haven’t had a problem with until now, and I’ve been publishing for over a year now. (Yay, me!) I released a new short story under another pen name, and even though the paperback is live and ready to go, the e-book is STILL in review, even though it’s been 5 or six days now since I hit the “publish” button.
It’s not just a me issue either, there’s a notice up on the KDP message boards, announcing that authors might experience delays.
And since pretty much everything has gone to hell in a hand basket, I can only assume that the KDP people who give the green light to indiebooks are as overwhelmed as the rest of amazon’s workers. 😦
As such, I’m not going to be releasing a mother’s day short story. Since I don’t know when it will be available, I don’t feel right about releasing a Mother’s Day specific story when I don’t know if it will be out in time for the holiday or not. 😦 What fun would it be if it came out next Thursday or Friday?
So, no new Holiday Horrors this month. 😦 I’m sorry, but hopefully Father’s Day can be better! Maybe I’ll even have a really long short story for Father’s Day to make up for it. (I can dream that all this pandemic stuff with be over by then!)
My mother’s day story is pretty good though, if I do say so myself. so maybe I can release it next year, or I can take out the Mother’s Day specific parts and use it for something else. My newest spooky shorts collection needs a final story. So there my be hope for The Mad Mother yet.
Until, then, I’m maximizing my social distancing time to work on as much writing as I can. Stay safe everyone, and happy reading! Love, Lennie! ❤
