My Unintended Posting Break

Hello, my dear readers, blog followers, and fans. (Can I call ya’ll fans? I sure hope so!) no spotlight for you today, but I’ll have some for you this weekend! I promise!

So, obvious, it’s been a bit since I posted. 😦 I’m sorry about that! I had a crazy past few days/week.)

First off, my plans to FINALLY publish She Watches You Sleep fell through. ugh. I uploaded it to Amazon and everything, but it found some major typos and something went wrong with the cover, so that’s on hold once again until I can get the problem fixed. hoping to get the updated version out this week. lol. I know, I know. you’ve heard it all before, right? πŸ˜‰

then, I had some days off I was planning on using for writing, but I made a last minute decision to go visit my mom and sister, so I got absolutely nothing done for about 3 days. I got to visit my family though, so that was nice. πŸ˜€

except for the flat tire. that was NOT nice. ugh. I was like a mile from home when a cop pulled me over to check on me. I thought my tire had just gone flat about a mile and a half from my mom’s house. thought I could make it home. nope! Not just flat. it was completely and totally shredded. like, nothing but the rim and rubber left.

glad he stopped me! he helped me put my little donut tire on so I could get home ok. then the crazy thing was this. he had a flat tire too! XD things aren’t so bad if it happens to someone else too. XD his wasn’t nearly as messed up as my tire, but it still amused me.

anyway, I got a new tire ordered, but the shop got it in later than I expected and I had to wait an extra day before going home. and it was just a stressful few days. my cat had fun though. πŸ˜€ he got to see his doggy and kitty siblings over at Mom’s house. (he’s surprisingly good at car rides!)

Writing Update time!

It’s a new week! I got back home safe to my computer and internet and schedule (love me some routine!) am couple of days ago. but I’m just now getting back in the swing of things. πŸ˜€ ❀

I’m trying to get back on my planned weekly publishing schedule and daily blog posting. because, obviously, that’s been going so well. lol. :’D I’m going to make it so! I’ve got Grand plans to this stuff, let me tell you! πŸ˜€ I’m back, and damn it all, I’m coming back with a vengence!

obviuosly, I’ll be fixing the cover and typos for she watches you sleep and getting that out. but I have some more important news! πŸ˜€

this morning, I finished up my rough draft of a new flash fiction collection! ❀ πŸ˜€ I’ve been trying to write one or two (sometimes 3) everyday for the past couple of months. I haven’t gotten everyday, of course. My trip to my mom’s saw almost no writing at all. (does 700 words in a fanfiction count? not really? okay. <3) but I finally finished those and have enough to make several little volumes. πŸ˜€

6 to be exact! I had so much fun writing Tiny Terrors, and it sells pretty well. πŸ˜€ I’ve done several a month since publishing. πŸ˜€ ❀ So I decided to do more flash fiction collections! I liked writing them, and people seem to want to buy them. So I might as well give readers what they want right? I read somewhere that writing to the market is a good thing, so long as you’re still writing what you love.

and I really do love flash fiction. πŸ˜€

I’m pretty proud of my little collections too. they really are fun to write. πŸ˜€ Now all they need is a bit of editing work and some covers and I’ll be golden.

These will be called Flashes of Fear, and I’ll be releasing little volumes weekly until Halloween. πŸ˜€ that’s went I’ll release a complete series set. all the volumes in one big book! available in e-book and paperback. gotta have a paperback, because I freaking LOVE paperback books! I’m really excited for it, since I’ll be putting some exclusive content into the bind-up! πŸ˜€ I’m hoping that maybe that’ll get people to buy it lol. πŸ˜€

I’m super excited to share the news flash fiction pieces with everyone. Not only are these uber short stories one of my favorite things to write, but they should also help with me with my publishing out up. πŸ˜€

obviously, a weekly release goal isn’t easy. my plans to do so clearly haven’t planned out like I want them too. But! I’m hoping with over a month’s worth of stuff almost ready to go, I can keep chugging away on my writing. ❀ This way, I’ll have more time to focus one some new stuff while still releasing once a week. πŸ˜€ Does that make sense? πŸ˜€ lol. It does to me. πŸ˜€ (guess I’ll be getting a rather impressive backlog of works for people to read.)

I figure the weekly Publishing schedule might be less stressful if I can make sure and have several weeks worth of stuff already read to go. πŸ˜€ that way, if something happens, like a mess up with a cover, or a flat tire that keeps me away from my beloved internet and writing schedule, I’ll have time to fix it, because I’ll already have stuff ready to publish. πŸ˜€

it’s a good plan, right? ’cause let’s face it. life is messy and shift happens. πŸ˜€

So what’s next after she watches you sleep and Flashes of fear? πŸ˜€ well. I’m going to focus on finishing my spooky shorts series, then my haunted bridge trilogy. Then I’ll finally be finishing up The Spirit Finders series. YAY! With a few other stand alone novella and novelette sprinkled in for good measure. πŸ˜€

Maybe I’ll do some Christmas themed horror stories around the holidays. πŸ˜€ that’d be fun. πŸ˜€ my first two short stories were christmasy after all.

anyway, thanks for listening me ramble. πŸ˜€ ❀ hope you liked it. and I hope you’re glad I’m back. I know I am! πŸ˜€ ❀ I’ll be back tomorrow with a book/story review. πŸ˜€ Not sure what it will be over yet, but it’ll be something interesting!

Happy Reading! Love, Lennie! ❀

I’ve also been writing little flash fiction pieces everyday. it’s been fun! πŸ˜€ So I’m hoping to have a good chunk of them ready for publishing them around October. a special Halloween Treat! πŸ˜€ And that zombie story I mentioned a while back? outlines are in works! So those should be coming eventually.

Can ya’ll tell I’m feeling better? πŸ˜€ I’m getting my ducks back in a neat little row! ❀

Writing and Depression

Hey, guys. Bit of an important post today. 😦 I don’t remember if I’ve share it or not, but I suffer from clinical depression and anxiety. And when episodes creep up and hit me, it means my writing and reading, and just about anything else I love doing can just stop in its tracks.

I’m sorry. I wish I had some better news for you guys today, but I don’t. 😦

So, I wanted to have a new novella out around the 20th. “She Watches You Sleep” is my working title. I love the story and the characters, and I really REALLY want to share it with everyone. But it’s just not going to happen as soon as I thought. 😦 sorry, everyone. I want to write, more than anything. but sometimes, I just can’t.

Depression is a real thing, and it’s hard. I don’t know where the cliche that Depression makes writers better and more creative came from, but it’s a load of crap.

my depression doesn’t make me better at writing. it makes me not what to do anything but eat and sleep and cry. (And scream at everyone. anger creeps in at the weirdest times among the sad feelings.) then i feel guilty for feeling that way when my life isn’t bad. I’ll think about how there are people out there with “Real” problems, and I’m not one of them. I’ll think I should just suck it up and keep working. even though I know logically that I can’t help it. chemical imbalances and all that jazz.

Sometimes, I’ll try to force myself to read or write through the depressive episode, but it doesn’t work. nothing I write sounds good to me and I just keep hitting backspace and feel terrible that I can’t work. and this terrible awful cycle continues…

it’s hard. its just so freaking hard.

I want to write. I want to read. I want to do and enjoy the things I love. but sometimes I just can’t. sometimes I just have rough patches, and the only thing I can do is hang in there and wait it out. for me, my depression and anxiety problems are like being stuck on a rollercoaster. there are crazy ups and downs. And sometimes, I’m just stuck on the down parts.

I’ll pull through though. eventually, the depressive episode will lift. and I should be feeling better soon. it’s always darkest before the sun comes out, right?

until then? hang tight, my dear readers and followers. I’ll get something new out to share with you soon. I’ll try and see if I can get some reviews posted, but no promise.

Until then? Happy Reading, my friends. I love you guys. If anyone you all out there struggle with mental illness? I feel you. you’re not alone.

Happy Reading. Thank you for understanding.

Sneak Peek at a New Story!

Hello, my Loved Readers! πŸ˜€ I’m currently working on a new novella and Spook Shorts #2. πŸ˜€ For today’s post, I thought I’d share a very rough draft of the first part of one of my new shorts which will be featured in Spook Shorts Volume 2.

There’s probably a lot of typos and stuff. but remember, it’s a rough draft. πŸ˜€ I just wanted to share this with you all. πŸ˜€ work up a bit of buzz about my works. It’s also my first attempt at a present tense story, so I hope it reads ok.

Happy Reading! Likes, Comments, and Shares are love, ya’ll!

I Love The Screaming

Take a look into the mind of a very distubed indiviual as play with their latest toy.

Part 1: Now

The soundproof room in my basement is dark and dirty. The only light comes from a small, bare bulb hanging from the ceiling. The only way in or out is the door I have just came through. It only locks from the outside. Only I have the key. The room is mostly bare. There is a work bench along one wall, holding all of my toys. In the center of is a metal table And on that metal table, held down with chains, is a naked man.

It smells, this room. Sweat. Blood. Piss. Shit. Vomit. It all mixes together in a smell that can only mean one thing: Fear.

I love it, other people’s fear.

I walk forward slowly. Each step is a loud boom in the quite. He knows I am coming. The only other noises are the man’s ragged breathing and the dripping of liquid as he wets himself. The man hears my steps. His head turns towards me even though he can’t see me. A blindfold covers his eyes. It’s stained with tears, sweat, and blood.

The blood. That part is my favorite.

It makes me happy, when the blood begins to flow. Dark red staining flesh, dripping to the concrete floor. Its intoxicating, better than any drink.

He is crying, the man on the table. He is talking. No. He is begging. Begging and pleading with me, desperate to be set free. Fool. He should know by know he is never leaving this place. He’s to much fun.

β€œPlease… please…” his voice is a rasping croak from lack of water.  He is thristy, I know. But he won’t be getting any water now. He will only be given enough to survive. He doesn’t need it now.

Besides, my needs are more important. It is way he’s here after all.

I smile and run my hand over the man’s bare torso. β€œHello, my friend,” I whisper. β€œAre you ready to play?”

He flinches and jerks at my touch, like it burns him. I laugh softly. We haven’t even begun yet.

β€œPlease… Let me… go!” he pants out as he strugges. β€œPlease!”

β€œOh, but where would be the fun it that?” I say. I smile to myself as I move across the room to the work bench. What toys to play with today?

β€œPlease… I won’t tell… anyone.”

Of course he wouldn’t. He was never leaving. The man had been here for three weeks so far. He would stay until I had worn him out. Then he would go join the others. I don’t respond. I simply take one of the toys from the bench and return to the table. His breathing is panicked. He thrashes wildly.

β€œPlease! No more! No more! No more! No more!” His voice is high and shrill as he babbles.

I tilt my head to the side. I don’t like all this. I want him to scream. I raise the toy I have chosen for today’s session, a fishing knife. Slowly, I run it over his skin. He goes stills and stops talking. He’s barely breathing. I smile.
β€œAre you ready to play?” I repeat.

His lips quiver as he tries to say the word β€œNo.” No sound escapes.

β€œAre you going to scream for me?” I ask. It’s a retorical question. He tries to keep the screams in whenever we first start. They all do. They don’t want to give me the pleasure of their screams. But I always convince them in the end.

I look him over critically until I find just the right spot, a large patch of skin on his upper arm. It’s dark purple from a bruise I gave him a few days ago. Purple is a nice color, but I do so prefer dark red. I grip my knife carefully in my hand. And I begin to cut.
