Tuesday Review!

A Slave’s Heart by Mahogany SilverRain

Hi, My readers! πŸ˜€ hope everyone is having some super fun bookish adventures. πŸ˜€ I have the day off from my two real jobs (writing is a job too, I just don’t get enough $ to do it full time. Some day!) So, I’ve been working on my writing, sharing some links on Facebook (basically the only Promotion I can afford right now), and now I’m doing so blogging.

lol. clearly, right?

Anyway! I took a break and read one of this week’s short stories selections. I picked A Slave’s heart, because It sounded really fun, and it was short. I love me some shorts. πŸ˜€

Captain William James is a private slave trader from Britain. He has transported many Africans from the West African coastline to work in the sugar plantations of Barbados and Jamaica. He meets Sirene, a West African priestess of Oshun whose drum walk (dance) calls to him one cool summer night. He is enchanted by her beauty and strength as he watches her dance, but can she capture his heart and free his mind of ignorance and prejudice against her people?Β

my rating? 3.5 stars! here’s my rating. πŸ˜€ I also shared a quick little review of it over on my Goodreads page. πŸ˜€

πŸ˜€ I liked the story. It was good! Well written and interesting. πŸ˜€Β The details for the clothing were really nice. And the waterfall scene were great! ❀

I just wish it had been longer! It was really good as it was, don’t get me wrong. I just would have loved more time to get to know the characters, setting, and culture. And I’d have loved to have seen more conflict, to have seen our two lovers grow closer over time.Β

Still, it was fun! πŸ˜€ I definitely recommend it if you like short stories and historical and interracial romance stories. πŸ˜€

If Ms. SilverRain ever decided to do a longer, more detailed version of this, I would SO be down for it! hint, hint! ❀ it’d make SUCH a great novel! especially if there was a paperback version of it. I adore physical books! ❀

Thanks for reading guys! be sure to check this one out if your a romance fan. I am! (funny considering how messed up some of my own writing is. Lol. I love the screaming Disturbed my sister/editor so bad, she refused to go into a pet store with me. lol.)

Be sure and join me tomorrow for a writing update post! πŸ˜€ Happy Reading, everyone! Love, Lennie! ❀

Free Book Friday!

hey guys! Oops! I missed yesterdays post! Sorry! What can I say? juggling two jobs sucks! I’ll share a review again on Monday! I swear! In the meantime, who likes FREE books?

I do, so I’ve almost always got one of my stories up for free on Amazon. πŸ˜€ helps more people see my books. And hopefully get a review or two, lol. πŸ˜€

this week’s free book is The Haunted Bridge, my latest novelette. πŸ˜€

Not to shabby a cover, huh? I’m always amazed what I can mange to do with KDP’s free cover maker and free images. Someday I’ll have professional covers made! Until then, I work with what I can.

Anyway, this on is FREE for the next couple of days, so get it while you can. Don’t forget to leave an honest review when you finish it!

πŸ˜€ I’ll have an Indie Author Spotlight for you tomorrow. And by late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, I should have She Watches You Sleep ready for purchase!

New Spirit Finder Files Story is LIVE!!! :D

The Summoning of the Soul Stealer (Spirit Finder Files Book 0) by [Grace, Lennie]

What do you guys think of the cover? Not to shabby for images from KDP’s image gallery. πŸ˜€ Some day, I’ll be able to afford to buy professionally made covers. Until then I’ll be using the royalty free images from KDP and my own limited photography and Photoshop skills. (I think Tiny Terror’s cover has turned out the best so far. :D)

Anyway! I loved writing book one so much, I wanted to keep writing in the world. πŸ˜€ So! Here’s a 11,000 word short story set before the Shadow in the Swing. It tells you a little bit more about the Being! It’s pretty fun if I do say so myself. πŸ˜€

I’m also working on another novel in the series. my working title is The Child From the Closet and will tell how Joe and Nathen started their Spirit Finders group. pretty cool, huh?

Anyway. make sure you get this new one out!

Happy Reading!

The Gate Guardian’s Daughter! 4 Stars!

The Gate Guardian's Daughter by K.T. Munson

Darn it, Liam! I liked you! Anyway! 4 solid stars.

This was a wonderful short story. A great prequel. Fun enough on its own, but it leaves the reader with so many questions about what happens next, and about the world that’s presented to. You’ll just have to read the rest of the books!

Which, I guess, is the whole point of a prequel. πŸ˜€ It certainly got my attention!

“The Gate Guardian’s Daughter” introduces the readers to Elisabeth, a sheltered ten-year-old girl, who is a lot more special than she realizes. It’s a very good story, well written and creative.

(And it has nothing to do with the story, but that cover is absolutely gorgeous!)

It’s a very fast read, which I love in a prequel. πŸ˜€ it’s like an appetizer. πŸ˜€ gets you hungry for more. And it’s got a wonderful line at the end, which I loved. Such a pretty quote!

“She cannot change what she is, only who she is. My only hope is that she will make the right decision.” If that won’t get you to read the rest of the series, I don’t know what will. πŸ˜€

Recommended for fans of fantasy and science fiction. πŸ˜€

P.S. I did notice that at one point, Elisabeth’s father called her Elsa instead of Elisabeth in my copy. It was the only typo I noticed. and it didn’t take anything away from the story itself (God knows my own books are full if them.) but it seemed important to note! It’s the M.C.’s name after all! πŸ˜€

Happy Reading! πŸ˜€
